Points of interest on Ride with GPS
Hi Chris,
There are two ways.
First, you can pin the route to your Ride with GPS account. From there, you have two options: upload the route to your GPS computer (if you’re travelling with one), where the POIs will appear while following the route. Not all GPS computers support this, but most modern ones do.
The easier option is simply to pull…

Planning a bikepacking trip this summer from Røros to Fredrikstad and wondering if anyone has experience connecting these two routes.
The idea is to start on NGR8 at Røros, cross into Sweden somewhere in the Engerdal/Femunden area toward Idre and Dalarna, ride south on gravel through Sweden, then re-enter Norway and pick up NGR4 along the border.…

Good morning. I forgot to ask a question: my flight home departs from Tromsø. How do you handle the box? Do you ask a shop to reserve one for you, and then on the day of your flight you go, pack it, and take a taxi to the airport? Any recommendations or experiences on this? Thank you very much.

Tromsø can be difficult to get a bike box. Arrive a few days before you fly. Go to the airport and check to see if they have a storage of old boxes left by people arriving. Go to major sports shops in person and source one. Don’t expect that you can ring and reserve one. The city can be overrun with cyclists during peak season. Bike shops… Read more

Points of interest on Ride with GPS
Hi Matthew
I understand your point.
But how exactly are we supposed to use these POIs when on the road?
„Ride“ isn’t really suitable for navigation, and manually transferring PoI to an own sat-nav app is a bit of a faff for a longer trip.

What are your thoughts on the Flam–Kaupanger (or vice versa) ferry?
Is there actually a direct ferry, or do one have to take a connecting boot service via Gudvanger, with the risk of not getting a seat/place for the bike on one of the two journeys?
I’ll be travelling along this section of the Fjord Norway Route in the second half of…

Hi!!! Last year, due to a last-minute medical issue, I had to cancel my cycling trip to Norway. This year, if all goes well, I’ll spend 15 days with my son driving through the fjordsand then I’ll go back on my own by bike for 21 days. I wanted to do Trondheim–Tromsø, but just today I found a flight to Bodø, and since I’m very clear that I…

Leave your bike locked at a campsite or accommodation. Don’t leave it at the trailhead as bikes have been stolen on Lofoten. Wildcamping on Lofoten is not recommended, and locals are very annoyed by people who do it. Full information about travelling through Lofoten, including famous hikes, accommodation options, etc can be found here for…
