Hi,
I am looking for the best route to do which meets these criteria:
– Maximised scenery
– Good camping spots
– Around 1000km maybe like 800-1200
– And in summer so not too busy roads for most the way
If anyone has some suggestions that would be great as all the routes look amazing but its hard to pick!

Hirtshals → Bergen
The main ferry operator on this long north-Atlantic crossing is Fjord Line:
-
It runs daily or near-daily sailings from Hirtshals (Denmark) to Bergen (Norway) in the summer.
-
Crossing time: ~16–18 hours depending on schedule/season.
-
You can take your camper van and book a cabin or deck seat.

You might find cheaper deals booking…

I have two questions:
What do you recommend…

I can spend July in one city, what city do you park yourself for amazing gravel?
Oslo is the only major city with endless gravel routes in all directions.

How I Rediscovered Bikepacking
When I was in my early teens—around 1978—two friends and I set off on a multi‑day bikepacking tour around Ryfylke in Rogaland. We loaded our bikes with a tent, sleeping bags, and cooking gear, then rolled out from Randaberg, where we all lived at the time.
The first stretch was easy enough: a 10‑kilometer ride to…

That’s a lovely reflection @[email protected] . Those early experiences have a way of staying dormant rather than disappearing, and it’s usually one small spark that brings them back to life. It sounds like you’ve rediscovered bikepacking in a way that actually fits the life you’re in now — and sharing it with your wife makes it even richer.…
