    <div>Hi</div>

I’m planning to go from Oslo to Oppdal on Thursday 11.06, while trying to book the ticket I noted that they plan construction work. As the alternative busses do not carry any bikes I’m trying to figure out alternative to go to the starting point Oppdal -> Fjord Norway.

    Message on the Train sites:

    <strong style=”font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit;”>Oslo S – Trondheim S

    Planned: 30th May – 15th June
All departures on the Dovre Line are fully cancelled and replaced with alternative transport.

Does somebody have an idea how to proceed to Oppdal? I was also thinking about cycling but the route seems to be quite busy.

Looking forward to a good time in the north

    Raphael

    Hi Raphael,

wow; looks like all trains on the complete route between Oslo and Trondheim are cancelled for two weeks ☹

You could ride on National Cycle Route 7 to Hamar (~140 km from Oslo) and take the train on the Røros line to Hovin. There, ride west to join the “Coast and Mountains” version of Bergen – Trondheim (or just go enjoy some nice gravel shortcuts towards Oppdal)

    Hi Michel,

Thanks for the idea, was thinking about cycling it but this combination seems also adventourous 🙂

    Highly appreciated! Thanks

Message from Gregory: I just wanted to reply to a question from Raphael Stocker: Train disruption Oslo-Trondheim. I had the similar problem last year in September. My solution was to take the train between Oslo and Bergen, and Havila (or Hurtigruten) between Bergen and Trondheim.

If he has time enough, he could do the same from Bergen to Molde and cycle to Oppdal along your “Bergen to Trondheim Coast and Mountains“-route. A few kilometers after Molde he could take the ferry Sølsnes-Åfarnes to join your route. If you like, you could forward my suggestion to Raphael.

Had you pre-paid your ticket? Did they provide a refund. I am worried I will be in the same position trying to get from Oslo to Vinstra mid July. I’ve already purchased two tickets and two bike tickets.

If you have already purchased your train tickets with bike space, the company, by law, must transport your bikes to your final destination. So you should be good. Last month, I updated the Public transport page with further info on the ‘Buss for Tog’ policy to help answer these questions: https://cyclenorway.com/en/bike-rental-repairs/
