Thank you Matthew. I was looking into the ferry transport from Tromsø to Bodø, but the price is inhumane—more than €600. Flying is a tough choice because I will leave the box and protection in Bodø, which means I would have to find everything needed for packing and protection in Tromsø. The EuroVelo 1 route is the best option IMO.

Back then, I took the Hurtigrute from Honningsvåg to Bergen to get back home. It was marvellous to let the route pass you by again (with good food)…

Last year I rode Senja, Andøya, Lofoten, and Helgelandskysten. This year I am looking forward to all or parts of Geiranger (Dalsnibba), Gamle Strynefjellvegen, Sognefjellet, Valdresflye and Gaularfjellet. It should be another exciting adventure.

That’s a great route. Some of the best roads in Nordmarka.
You have a small “hike a bike” section at about 7.2 km. a few hundred meters, so no big issue. You could also cross the bridge at Skjærsjøen on your return, so you don’t have to descend all the way to Maridalen before climbing to Sognsvann. Se attached screenshot.

I would not take the detour down to klekken. Would rather take detours in marka.
If its for sleeping I would rather sleep at løvlia or some of the other cabins.
I would also recommend a detour to Gyrihaugen. New road build for a new satelite station (witch was canceled). good view.

Hi. I am flying in to Tromso from Australia on 14 June. 15 June commencing cycling from Tromso to Bodo, train to Trondheim then cycling to Bergen. My route is Eurovelo 1 using Komoot and staying in hotels.
Do I need to be concerned about frequency of Ferry’s along the way or are they regular during summer?

Rain pants might seem like a good idea for cycling, but in reality, they’re not very practical. Here’s why:
Overheating & Sweat – Most rain pants don’t breathe well, meaning you end up just as wet from sweat as you would from the rain.

I agree with Matthew’s points that they easily become impractical.
Longjohns in merino wool are a very good garment in wet/cold conditions, and I have also tried cutting each leg off to and wore those, to make sure my butt/crotch area is directly on the bib.I have however seen quite a few bikepackers in Norway using shell pants for the extra…
