Revival of Gravel through Hallingdal...
There are loads of gravel in this area, and they recently fixed up a few new roads higher into the forest, which are in great condition. You can also do a big loop with some paved heading back to Geilo.

Revival of Gravel through Hallingdal...
Does anyone have any more information on this or can point me in a direction I might be able to dig into the topic more? I’ve done some general heat map/Strava/RWGPS stalking and Statens Vegvesen aerial map scrolling. So I’ve found a general route through, but feel pretty confident that it’s not the same as the old forest service roads mentioned. Thanks!

You should stick with the Eurovelo 1. It’s the most scenic and safest way. There are limited options around that area, and some other roads may have impassable tunnels. https://cyclenorway.com/en/routes/atlantic-coast/stage-1/
