Short gravel alternative between Trondheim and Steinkjer (more precisely: Leksvik – Mosvik):
I travelled in the north-south direction (towardsTrondheim). Instead of road 755 (whose traffic I found a bit unpleasant) I discovered a small road along the fjord on the map and decided to try it. I liked it very much.
There is no traffic at all. The distance is shorter than on the main road, which makes a detour away from the fjord. However, it is hard work with a total of almost 1000 m uphill collected. It’s almost all gravel. Some climbs are steep and require considerable power with a fully loaded bike, but it’s feasible. Be sure to programme the track into the GPS or do a thorough map preparation, since there are a few junctions where the visually larger road is a dead end.
Distance Mosvik – Leksvik: 33 km

All I can send for now are screenshots of the map showing the rough location and the profile. The Android version of Garmin Connect doesn’t let me download the gpx file. I will do that from a PC when I get home in a few days from now.
Note that the trace goes beyond Leksvik to the Hindrum campground.
