• Norway Day 3

Being honest. No one came to collect the fees at camping Kvas, there was just a website for payment, so after a few clicks our debt of 200KR was paid. We were the only ones, no campers, no visitors, we could start to get a complex.

First stop Kvasfossen a large waterfall that we could hear as white noise during our stay, it did involve a steep push up the footpath, that is when you realise how heavy your bikes are.

For the next 20km we followed the river Lynge with it gorges, rapids and abandoned houses. A white one looked particularity scarey. We did not venture inside.
Next the hill. No messing 10 percent for the first KM. Jenni found this hard worried that Norway was maybe 1 hill too many. She did not know at the time how steep the hill was, double what she thought.

A few tears and many stops we conquered the 3rd day hill. I promised I would look at route and later found a route to reduce the elevation for the next few days. But this is Norway there will always be hills.

Like yesterday the final part of the ride was a big down hill to a campsite, again empty with very poor facilities. With rain coming there was no other campsites, so wallet opened and we have a roof over head.

Tomorrow we head for the coast before turning inland and our first wild camping.

      • Keep them coming—really enjoying your daily field reports. Just a heads-up: the section you’re heading into now is one of the toughest in Norway. The stretch between Flekkefjord and Egersund is known as The Devil’s Teeth—a relentless series of 200-metre climbs that rise and fall for nearly 80km. It’s a test of endurance, but the climbs are shortish, and if you take your time, your body will adapt. The good news is that once you reach Egersund, the terrain levels out quite a bit. Just be prepared for some potential headwinds along the coast.

@Matthew Norway Hi thanks for the tip. We are now heading north to 4443 Tjørhom following the valley roads. We do not tend to follow cycle route but create our own. Martin
