Last weekend in Telemark. After two weeks of dry and settled weather, we now have a low-pressure system over southern Norway. Some wet and below-average temperatures are expected in the last week of May and early June. Northern Norway’s temperatures look roughly the same as the south, with both sunny and unsettled days in the next week.

Here are a few suggestions to make the most of it:
Layer Up: With below-average temperatures and potential rain, pack layers—especially a windproof and waterproof outer shell. Lightweight merino is great for staying warm and dry.Flexible Itinerary: Add rest days on wet days. Have a few indoor options in mind (like local museums, cafés, or cultural sites) in case the rain sets in.
Check Local Forecasts Daily: Norwegian weather can shift fast. Use yr.no for accurate local forecasts and plan your days accordingly.
Bike Maintenance: If you’re riding, give your chain some extra attention—wet roads and grit can wear it down quickly. Mudguards can also save you a lot of mess.
Photography Opportunity: Overcast skies can bring out rich colours and textures in nature, especially in mountainous areas
Wild camping? If the weather turns bad, have a backup with a possible roof accommodation. You should be willing to dig into your budget so you can maintain morale and comfort. A hot shower and a place to dry your gear are something to look forward to after a day in the rain.
