• In two weeks we will be on the ferry from Kiel to Oslo and then start to Minnesund.

At first we want to look for smaragds in the mine. Then starting our tour, the first time with ebikes. We have lot of experience with touring by bikes, many times in Norway and hopefully we are not too late in the year. Because of this we have decided to stay in cabins and simple accomodations.

This is our planned route – however the weather and our mood will be, we are flexible and will see whats coming up.

      • I hope you have a fantastic journey around Southern Norway.

I’ve taken a quick look at your route and noticed there’s quite a bit of guesswork in it. Komoot can be tricky—it often sends cyclists onto roads that either aren’t suitable or aren’t allowed for cycling. I’d suggest reviewing the route carefully, especially to see if you really want to ride on E-roads when there are better alternatives available. Also, consider how you plan to get to Stavanger—unless you’re planning to swim, sea tunnels won’t be an option for cyclists.

The link to komoot works. But like Matthew says you will need to refine in places. We found cycle.travel was better for planning, not so many surprises. Here is our Norway route it maybe of use to you.

          • Thanks for your suggestion.

We try to avoid the E roads, except this time down to Hardangerfjord,

We already cycled the Rallarvegen few years ago under perfect weather conditions. It was a dream.

The planning is a mix of google, Komoot, NorCamp App and Mathew’s links, his YouTube films and our flexibility.

Stavanger is not really fix and I expect that we will avoid it. And we have to consider of having more luggage than gravel bikers. In total we have 19 days but we also make rest days in between.

Norway, we are coming (it’s our 10th trip in 30 years )

What date will you be cycling on Hardangerfjord? I plan to cycle Ulvik -> Haradangerbrua -> Ringoy on August 28 if weather and stamina hold out.

Look for an ugly black gravel bike w/no derailleur (belt drive instead (cast off your chains!!!!)).

              • Hello Mike,

We arrive on Sunday in Oslo and the cycle to Minnesund. In case the weather is good we go further west.

Maybe one week later (7th Sept) we are around Hardangerfjord, but nothing is fixed.

                Best regards Renata
