This is not a recommendation for others, but I would like to mention that I am again using my 1985 Trek touring bicycle given to me by my uncle, who rode it in Norway back in the 1980s. It’s a sturdy bike for loading lots of gear. Last year I rode it from Tromsø to Trondheim through rain and wind. Today I’m starting from Vinstra and heading up…

What roads/routes are you planning on cycling this season?
I arrive in Vinstra tomorrow and will start up Mjølkevegen a couple of days later. Then Slettefjell, Tusenmeteren, Tindevegen, Gaularfjell, and eventually Gamle Strynefjellvegen and back to Vinstra.

In mid to late June, im looking to cycle up Mjølkevegen from Vinstra, work my way to Tusenmeteren and eventually ride Gamlestrynefjellvegen on the way back from Nordfjord. With a few other National Scenic Turist Routes along the way.

I’m also thinking about coming to Norway in mid-June to ride a combination of Mjølkevegen and Rallarvegen. I found the inspiration at bikepacking.com.
What is your general opinion that the trails are already passable in mid-June? From what I read, June is still a bit early for the cycling season.- View 1 reply

Last year I rode Senja, Andøya, Lofoten, and Helgelandskysten. This year I am looking forward to all or parts of Geiranger (Dalsnibba), Gamle Strynefjellvegen, Sognefjellet, Valdresflye and Gaularfjellet. It should be another exciting adventure.
