I’m excited to share a new premium gravel route, originally scouted by local bikepacker Knut Myking from Ål. When he sent it over, it looked too good to pass up. I made a few minor adjustments to suit my setup and rode it over two full days, though I’d recommend three if you want time to explore or take things slower.
Over the past few days, I’ve pulled together a full story and overview pages to help you get the most out of this ride. This isn’t a typical touring route; it’s built for a light bikepacking setup. One section includes a 3.5 km hike-a-bike stretch that adds a real sense of adventure.
The northern section also offers a more remote and demanding way to link Rallarvegen and Mjølkevegen, an alternative to the usual valley routes. This kind of innovation is exactly why Cycle Norway exists: to scout, test, and promote the best bikepacking experiences the country has to offer.
We think this route ranks among the best. But as always, that’s for you to decide.

This route looks very tempting! Where approximately on the route is that 3,5 km hike-a-bike section?
