Hi, my friend and I (both 68 males) will be riding the Northern part of the route from Sortland to Nordkapp on July 13-23, 2026. We plan on camping with the occassional hotel. A couple questions for the community…1) any tunnels that will be closed to cyclists or to be aware of during that period, and 2) what is the best/fastest way to get back from Nordkapp to Tromso. Are there ferrys or buses?

The Nappstraum Tunnel is currently undergoing major upgrade work and is closed to cyclists throughout the construction period.
From 15 June to 15 August, the tunnel is open to motor traffic, but cycling through the tunnel is not permitted. To assist cyclists, a transport service is provided through the tunnel twice daily at 10:00 and 18:00.
Cyclists arriving outside these times should be prepared for a wait or arrange alternative transport. Pedestrians are also prohibited from using the tunnel and must use public transport or other means of travel.
Please plan your journey accordingly, as this restriction may cause significant delays if you arrive at the wrong time Expect some waiting time and plan your day around the scheduled convoy departures.
TIP: If you are a single cyclist, you could try to flag a campervan down and ask if they will take you through the tunnel.-
