Bikepacking: Best Gear to Own?
I’m thinking about which hydration pack to get. Matthew, is the Camelbak Rogue™ Light 7 Bike Hydration Pack still your first choice? 😊

Hello,
Around September 2nd, I plan to arrive at Nordkapp. I am now looking for options to return to Bodø. My initial plan is to take a ferry from Honningsvåg to Tromsø. I would appreciate any advice on how to get from Tromsø to Bodø.View more comments-
You have three options:
1. Take the bus with bike: https://svipper.no/?sprak=3
2. Hurtigruten boat: https://www.hurtigruten.com/en/port-to-port
3. Fly: http://www.sas.no

Thank you Matthew. I was looking into the ferry transport from Tromsø to Bodø, but the price is inhumane—more than €600. Flying is a tough choice because I will leave the box and protection in Bodø, which means I would have to find everything needed for packing and protection in Tromsø. The bus is the only good option, but I wasn’t sure if they…

The EuroVelo 1 route is the best option IMO.

Back then, I took the Hurtigrute from Honningsvåg to Bergen to get back home. It was marvellous to let the route pass you by again (with good food)…

Which rain pants do you recommend?
View more comments-
Rain pants might seem like a good idea for cycling, but in reality, they’re not very practical. Here’s why:
Overheating & Sweat – Most rain pants don’t breathe well, meaning you end up just as wet from sweat as you would from the rain.
Restricted Movement – They can be baggy and flap in the wind, making pedaling awkward and… Read more1 -
I agree with Matthew’s points that they easily become impractical.
Longjohns in merino wool are a very good garment in wet/cold conditions, and I have also tried cutting each leg off to and wore those, to make sure my butt/crotch area is directly on the bib.I have however seen quite a few bikepackers in Norway using shell pants for the extra…

Hello! I’m trying to import a GPX file for the route Bodø – Lofoten – Tromsø. I’m using Komoot, and when I import the file and create a new route, it doesn’t show the interesting and important points along the way (such as information points, campsites, shops, etc.) that are marked on the original map. How can I import these into Komoot?

I have the same problem and last year I put in the POIs manually in Komoot. A little bit of work. But maybe someone in this community has a good solution …

The POI’s are part of ridewithgps as far as I’m aware you can not transfer them to another platform like komoot.

In August, I’m flying to Bodø, where I will start my cycling journey. I plan to ride to North Cape and then return to Bodø for my flight back home. Does anyone have experience with where it’s possible to leave a bike box in Bodø? Maybe at a hotel if I stay there overnight? Thanks for your help.

Yes, you should try one of the main hotel chains like Thon, Strawberry, or Scandic which will have a luggage room. Contact them directly and see what they can do. You may have to pay a fee per day or they may just allow you to leave it there if you’re staying on arrival and when you get back.…

I highly recommend Smarthotel in Bodo. They stored my cardboard-box for free for more than 3 weeks 2 years ago!
