Which bike to take…

With a 6 week trip to Norway looming…mid May to end of June….and with my wife riding a front suspension e-MTB …what would the collective recommend I bring to ride a few gravel tracks, some quiet road loops round lakes/fjords etc…..a lightweight XC 29er MTB or a more road biased gravel bike ? I’m leaning toward the MTB…perhaps convince me otherwise….

Hi we are going at the same time, where is your start point ? We are leaving from Kristiansand. I have Pinnacle Colt 3 a 27 speed with suspension forks. Done a tour last year very comfortable ride loaded with about 20kg. Good luck with your search…

We are doing the length of Norway in our camper and doing various bits of it on cycles.

I guess it depends how fast your wife is on the E-bike? If it’s a comfortable pace I’d bring the MTB and have more comfort and control. If she’s going to push you then take the gravel!

She’s a ‘potterer’. I have to keep telling her to go lower on the gearing and to up the assistance…she still thinks it’s ‘cheating’. MTB it is then. (We are evenly matched when I’m on it…less so on tarmac when I’m on the gravel bike)
