Sleeping bag

Hi, I’m looking for the most suitable sleeping bag for my cycling trip to Nordkapp in the second half of August and early September. I currently have the Abisko Three Seasons sleeping bag, but it’s too large and heavy. It takes up too much space, even when compressed to a minimum.

    What would you recommend?

Last year in august I used a Cumulus Quilt (I cycled from Oslo to Flåm and back), I had some cold night. I really like quilts because they are very versatile.

Sometime in addition I use a thermal liner (Seat to Summit Reactor).

Been several times bikepacking / camping norway above arctic circle (also up to north cape) i can say even in summer weather can be dramatically different. If you have a good tent with not to much ground ventilation, so it gets warm a bit (Hilleberg Enan or Soulo) i am using a western Mountaineering 650g (not to light / not a Winter bag) with an optional Cocoon Thermolite inlay and optional long merino trouses / thick merino socks (and a beanie). Meaning a kind of a layering system. Works best for me in trade of freezing and weight. Because on the other side it can be so warm, that a winter bag is simply to much .. but you should be able to cover under 10 degrees with comfort.

Thank you Florian I have good tent (Abisko lite1) and I think that Sea To Summit Spark will be good solution. I’m also looking Western Mountaineering-MegaLite.

I bought the Firelite from Mountain Equipment for this sole purpose: bikepacking in Norway (3 seasons). It packs into a compact lump and is incredibly light at between 700 and 800 grams: https://www.thegreatoutdoorsmag.com/review/mountain-equipment-firelite-review/

It sure did the trick in around 0 degrees without clothes inside, in the mountains close to Beitostølen. Haven’t tested in colder conditions, but no reason to doubt it. One thing to remember with down as opposed to synthetic bags, is to keep it dry. A wet down bag isn’t worth much.
