Bike Workshop Kirkenes
Posted by Jonathan Pietsch on August 3, 2025 at 1:05 amI cycled all the way from Germany up here to ride the “Arctic East 700”. Unfortunately, I now need some help tightening my cassette on a Shimano HG freewheel. Does anyone know a shop in or around Kirkenes with a bike workshop?

Google Maps lists 3 or so Sporting Goods stores but that may not be suitable for what you need.
How about contacting the sponsors of the event? Maybe they know somebody who knows somebody that can help.

@mpage The “Arctic East 700” isn’t a cycling event but a highly recommended route to the northeast end of Norway, see https://cyclenorway.com/en/routes/the-arctic-east-700/
Sorry for being a smartass ????

I am starting to learn these things.
Newbiness is sometimes a very laughable thing.

Sportshjørnet (MX-sport) seems to be the place you are looking for: https://www.google.com/maps/place/Sportshj%C3%B8rnet+(MX-sport)+AS/@69.7277303,30.0400518,17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m6!3m5!1s0x45cb48e5ac09fb53:0x891525bf4a2e51c5!8m2!3d69.7277303!4d30.0400518!16s%2Fg%2F1tj9rxr8?entry=ttu&g_ep=EgoyMDI1MDczMC4wIKXMDSoASAFQAw%3D%3D
They have at least one very good review about a bike repair on Google Maps. Good luck!
Enjoy your Trip on the Varanger peninsula ☺️
BTW: Which route did you take to get there? And how long did it take? I always took ferries and trains to get that far north. I would love to read a trip report about your yourney ????

Thank you very much! Here a little update from my side: I got it fixed at Sportshjørnet (MX-sport). Also got the recommendation from another guy, who started the European Divide Trail and was there before. So this seems to be the place to get your bike fixed in Kirkenes!
I came up here by cycling through Sweden and Finland in almost 50 days. Rough route was Helsingborg – Örebro – Sundsvall – Tornio – Rovaniemi – Kittilä – Kirkenes. For the way home I planed to cycle Eurovelo 1. I am writing a private travel diary but would be willing to prepare something for publication afterwards. @Matthew Norway If you are interested and you tell me where, then I could publish it on Cycle Norway. @michel Otherwise I would send you a DM.

Hi Jonathan, Happy to read your article and publish on CN – The best way is to send me a draft (Word format is fine), with photos either included or clearly marked – for example: “Insert image 2356.jpg after this sentence.” Please also upload the images to Dropbox, Google Drive, or similar so I can download and resize them for the website.
