• Norway Day 6 and 7 rest day.

Free cabin and peas, but I still stole the toaster.

They day before we had been chatting about breakfast, porridge is nice, but every day, not so. We both fancied toast, followed by yoghurt with fruit and an oat biscuit. Chance would have in the campsite kitchen there was a toaster, so I sneaked out early and grabbed the toaster, hoping not to inconvenience other guests. There were a few. The toast was wonderful as we watched the mist lifting to reveal the waterfalls filled from the nights rain.

The first part of our day was a long, steady climb past iron, age burial mounds, deep gorges, and 100s of waterfalls. Only in one section after we had restocked with groceries included our free peas, were the gradients above 8 percent. Lunch was taken quickly by a barn, and the wind was chilly, so it was not possible for a long lunch.

Ha, the second part of the day was meant to be a 30 km decent down the Hunnedalsveien road, starting amongst the last of the winter snow at 800m. But the wind had other ideas, so for the decent we peddled.

Even if it had snowed we would not have cared this was a stunning cycle ride, steep cliffs either side a road always twisting infront alongside crystal clear steams, varying terrain dotted with summer huts and their grass roofs.

I could go on, but yesterday, Reel and today’s pictures say it all.

The last part of the day we climbed again through gloppedalsura a screed of bolders which fell in the last ice age and as recently as 2020 before a cold decent to our campsite.

Today has been our first rest day, doing the chores and planning the next week where we will be following the coast.
