We are staying at Rogn Camping in Valdres (along on mjølkevegen) and doing some day trips. Today was Tusenmeteren. We drove and parked in a large gravel lot on Tyinvegen/53 to start our trip. Lots of riders doing the Midnight Sun event passed climbing out of Øvre Årdal. It was sprinkling a bit most of the day but pleasantly warm compared to normal. The old gravel road is in good shape. No sections to walk. It is such a gorgeous route! I left a snow angel for everyone in one of the snow fields next to the road 😇
I’m currently recovering from/nursing a long term back/hip issue so I finally got an ebike (specialized Turbo Vado SL) and I was amazed at how well it handled the route without me having to push too hard to strain something. When I first started riding it rather than my diverge, I felt like an imposter. Well, I feel like a whole new world is opening up for me because of this amazing bike so I’m doing my best to not project other people’s thoughts in my head anymore! All this to say, if you’re on the fence about getting one…do it. Also, theres no shame in shorter single day rides. We can’t all always ride from destination to destination. Ok…I’ll stop cheerleading! Also on the docket for this trip is an out and back on Mjølkevegen north east of Beitostølen, and a trip up to Slettefjell over to Beitostølen, and back down to Rogn.
