Depending on the surface, of course, but in general I would say any bike that has endurance geometry, disc brakes, generous tire clearance and the possibility to replace stem and seat post to put on a suspension stem and seatpost. The challenge with many of the models from the big brands is that they have so-called “system integration”, aero bars and seatpost with irregular shapes etc, and it is often difficult or impossible to swap out parts with better options.

Hi! That depends on where in Norway you are going, but if you have to pick one of the bikes, I would definitely go with the gravel bike. There are so many nice gravel roads all over the country, and even if many of them are perfectly rideable on road bikes (with tires of 30+ width) you will enjoy them more on a gravel bike. And the gravel bike is perfectly suitable on tarmac, as well.

Funny thing is, I usually bring my gravel bike when I´m exploring my own region and country, but I love bringing my road bike when I go to ride in France! Maybe I should be more adventurous next time?

That looks like a neat solution. I usually go more minimalistic, sometimes I bring a kitchen, sometimes not. When I bring it, I usually put it in one of my Tailfin cargo cage packs or a pannier style pack on my Tailfin rear rack.

I agree with Matthew. I usually bring a Sea To Summit SP1 (with a comfort temperature of 5 degrees) and that´s fine. It can be pretty cold at night.

I have the Big Agnes Fly Creek HV Ultralight and I´m very happy with it, except from one thing: You can´t pitch it in one piece. It is very light and comes with short poles which is very handy for bikepacking. The tent is also pretty spacious, and I have had no problems with it. I consider the Durston X-Dome +1 since that one can be pitched in one piece, which is handy when it´s raining.
