• Norway Day 8

A day of 2 halves the first part we retraced our wheel tracks including a tunnel, for 7km passing again giant bolders with a golden sandy beach. I could not see a way down but the locals will have a path.

After the last bolder it was down hill for 12km this time with the wind behind us.Then it came into view Lysefjord at the village of Dirdal where we hid behind the ports office for a drink and pastries.

We could see a quarry with many lorries in the distance, next to a tunnel. I checked the map, yep we were going that way. It was a tough climb, dusty and with the roar of the lorries in the tunnel.

At this point the wind was building ahead of the storm expected around 4pm. I said the famous words. Only 10km to go. Njord must of heard as he unleashed gusts of 70km pushing me off my bike and scaring Jenni who ending up walking on and off for the next 5km.

It was a difficult afternoon. But we made quick choices at a lakeside putting up our tent and storing our gear inside. Where we wrapped up warm and waited out the storm.

It is not always going to be easy, but we survived and tomorrow we ride the coastline.
