Cycling the ‘Fjord Norway’ route in August without a tent?
Hello everyone,
I’m planning to cycle the entire ‘Fjord Norway’ route, setting off from Oppdal August 12 heading south.
I’d really prefer not to have to carry a tent and sleeping mat on my bike.
How likely is it at this time of year to find somewhere to stay – from ‘any sort of roof over your head’ to a hotel – if you start looking about 24–6 hours before arriving?
I really want to avoid having to spend the night outdoors if no place is found.
I’d also like to avoid spending hours on the phone looking for a overnigth place.
I can do daily stages of around 100 km. I’d like to avoid stages of less than 80 km and more than 120 km (depending on the elevation gain of the day’s stage).
What approach do you recommend, and where do I need to make compromises in my planning?

One more follow-up question about the cabins at the campsites.
As far as I can tell, these are usually designed to accommodate 4–8+ people, which is probably expensive for a single person and hardly makes sense.
Are these cabins intended as dormitories where you can pay to share with strangers, or how does it work if you’re travelling alone?
Thanks, C.
