Do you carry cash?
Posted by Gerry Auman on July 16, 2025 at 3:59 amHow much cash do you generally carry? Last year when visiting, I did not use any, but will be riding Mjølkevegen in two weeks, and thought some cash might come in handy.

i keep around 500 kr…useful to pay for showers and small things ( left 200kr in an envelop for a camping couple of days for instance)

I’ve had the same question. I haven’t touched cash (I can almost say ‘or even credit cards’) since my visit to Norway last year. I maintained the same practice even in the US on my return. Cashless is the way to go.
But this year’s trip will probably require some campground visits where having to pay for sites & facilities like showers seems to be the rule. I am not going to like carrying the extra weight of coins.

I just came off a 3 week trip and the only place I needed/used cash was for a cabin in Eikesdalen. Otherwise everything was 100% electronic.

Enough cash to perhaps cover one or two nights in a cabin on a camp site :)… Just in case you find that one camp site that does cash only!
